Speaking on Radio 4s Loose Ends with Clive Anderson, Colman said: “We start filming next summer. I have no idea what the story will be yet.”
ITV confirmed earlier this year that Colman and co-star David Tennant would both return for a third series, but did not say which other cast members we can expect to see again. Broadchurch has proved a major success for ITV, and was named amongst the big winners at the TVChoice Awards earlier this year.
The series, written by Bridport’s Chris Chibnall, is filmed in West Bay. ITV’s director of drama Steve November said: “Chris Chibnall knows exactly how to keep viewers guessing and I’m delighted that he is going to take the story onto the next stage.”
